Theory of the dipole-exchange spin wave spectrum in ferromagnetic films with in-plane magnetization revisited

چکیده

We present a refinement of the widely accepted spin-wave spectrum that Kalinikos and Slavin computed for magnetic films with an in-plane magnetization (1986). The spin wave follows from diagonal approximation in this theory becomes inaccurate relatively thick films, as has already been noted by Kreisel et al. (2009). Rather than solving integrodifferential equation which magnetostatic Green's function, done Slavin, we impose exchange boundary conditions on bulk solutions. This problem accurate analytical solution is quantitatively different commonly used films.

Microscopic Theory of Dipole-Exchange Spin Waves in Ferromagnetic Films: Linear and Nonlinear Processes

The linear and nonlinear processes in ferromagnetic films at low temperatures (T ≪ Tc) are studied in a microscopic theory. Both the long-range magnetic dipole-dipole and the Heisenberg exchange interactions to nearest and next-nearest neighbors are included. The results obtained for the linearized spin-wave spectrum are compared with previous macroscopic theories. For ultrathin films (or for l...

Microwave excitation of spin wave beams in thin ferromagnetic films.

An inherent element of research and applications in photonics is a beam of light. In magnonics, which is the magnetic counterpart of photonics, where spin waves are used instead of electromagnetic waves to transmit and process information, the lack of a beam source limits exploration. Here, we present an approach enabling generation of narrow spin wave beams in thin homogeneous nanosized ferrom...

Competition between in-plane and out-of-plane magnetization in exchange-coupled magnetic films

The coupling between a Co layer with in-plane easy axis of magnetization and a Ni layer with out-of-plane easy axis across a nonmagnetic Cu spacer layer was studied by layer-resolved magnetic imaging. Photoelectron emission microscopy and magnetic circular dichroism in soft x-ray absorption as the magnetic contrast mechanism were used for the domain imaging. Crossed, wedge-shaped epitaxial Co a...

Spin-wave theory for dimerized ferromagnetic chains

We describe a Peierls dimerization which occurs in ferromagnetic spin chains at finite temperature, within the modified spin-wave theory. Usual spin-wave theory is modified by introducing a Lagrange multiplier which enforces a nonmagnetic state at finite temperature. It is shown that this method gives results in excellent agreement with the density–matrix renormalization group applied to transf...
